My biggest game this year is RE8, or Village, or whatever. I have tried so dang hard to stay away from any news, articles, trailers, etc for it. I want it to be as fresh as possible, like when I was a kid and I bought Thief: the Dark Project and all I had was the box art and everything in the game blew me away because I had no idea what to expect. That's so hard now. I've seen so many accidental pictures and article headlines for RE8 and I'm like, ugh...I should accept that those days are long gone. I'm sure there's tons of stuff in RE8 that'll be new and what not, but I'm thinking, what if I literally new nothing about the cool tall vampire lady and then boom! run into her in the game. Now I inadvertently know her name, some of her gameplay features and a few story tidbits based on nothing but article headlines that I've seen on social media newsfeeds as I scroll down.

My other big game is Mass Effect Legendary Edition but I don't mind trailers and what not for that, because I've already beaten the games and I want to see how spruced up the graphics will be.

See, this is a terrific point. I would much, much rather run into giant vampire lady than see her in a trailer or a demo. It sort of sucks that she's been spoiled.

But yeah, with Mass Effect we're all way past spoilers. I'm stoked for both these remasters and RE8. Loved 7.

Could it be possible that From Software and Bandai Namco are just cutting costs by not releasing many trailers? The reasoning might be as you say: everybody knows about the Souls series and are already looking forward to Elden Ring, so why waste money and time on more marketing that probably has started yielding diminishing returns at this point? I wouldn't really say that "doing nothing" is "genius", but for sure if you're a big name with a good reputation then hype will generate itself... Elden Ring is evidence of that.

I may be a bit hyperbolic calling it genius. It's partly my way to support them continuing in this vein.
