Your reviews are my favorite part of hate-watching this show - please don’t give up and keep suffering along with the rest of us. My recent fave highlights of the show: the dude standing next to the zombie horde in the dam doorway holding a pitchfork and panicking about their lack of firearms - poke them through the fence holes, dummy. And the ‘impregnable’ dam fortification… which can be easily bypassed by going up river a few hundred yards and attacking Morgan’s camp from the rear. LOL
Haha thanks! Yeah it's just so . . . so . . . bad. It's ALMOST fun to hate-watch it. I think this review is me just venting tbh. But yeah, I'm not going anywhere!
Whenever I think of Dave Erickson watching Fear TWD now (not that he does most likely) I just think of that Marlon Brando line from The Godfather, "look how they massacred my boy"
TWD super fan here. Watched every single episode of TWD and s1-3 of FTWD as well as FTWD s4 first half but I quit when they killed Madison (what show kills off a main character in that way?) Erik I’ve been reading your reviews for years. It’s all on point. Can someone explain to me why the people at TWD and FTWD continue to hype their shows and we’re now having movies and a spin-off. (?) Why did the quality of these shows go so downhill? I don’t understand! There was no reason for TWD or FTWD to go downhill, both had tons of material to use including comics and that awesome cliffhanger from s3! This is some bull!
Simple. They milk it for money and it went downhill because Gimple came onboard and then hired two utter untalented hacks who think serving up an episode where two characters watch paint dry on trees qualifies as entertainment.
100% agree with this mate. Compare the conflict we had in Season 3 with Otto/NA tribe and then the Proctors to this absolute shite. Can't wait till this show wraps up so I can move on with my life lol.
Don't mind the people saying shit about your review, man, honestly. I've been reading your reviews of FTWD ever since Nick died, I guess, and I couldn't agree more with you. It's awfully written, it has lame characters with lame goals, the story doesn't make any sense at all anymore, and I mean, how are we supposed to believe that this group of people would be able to live THIS LONG in an apocalypse? For real, why didn't Alicia finished the guy who was trying to embalm her after stabbing him in the eye? That would never happen if she actually had any amount of grey matter.
Also, why on the bloody earth she needed to stay behind? Couldn't she just light the damn embalmed zombies from the freacking door and run away with the other guys. It literally doesn't make any sense what happens in this show, it infuriating. I honestly just watch it to this day so I can come and read your reviews and laugh about how imbecile it has become. Keep up the good work, man.
Honestly, I enjoyed reading you when this was a complete and utter shit show and borefest, back in seasons 4 and 5. Season 6 has its weaknesses, but it’s much, much better. There is finally some character development and dialogues. Some forgotten characters finally get valuable screen time. And most of all, it’s finally entertaining again. I'll go as far as saying it’s the most entertaining season so far. Not the most well written, but at least there's an effort to make it a good show again.
And I'll say this. I appreciate your honesty usually, but this is a shit review. You can't blame a show for lacking nuances and complexity, when your own review does the same. We get it, you hate it. The plane and the air balloon were stupid, but do you need to bring it back in every review? Sinxe you're paid to review this show, at least make an effort and try to give it a fair evaluation. Not just some mocking rant.
Pat, I've written dozens of reviews of this show. I've put lots of time and effort into reviewing it fairly (if harshly for a while) but it's utterly ludicrous to accuse me of not making an effort. If I have a little rant from time to time I think it's well-earned. If the showrunners want to start making a better show I'll start giving them better reviews. But while you might find this more entertaining, I do not. It's not as bad as S4/5 but that doesn't mean it's more entertaining either.
Let's agree to disagree on this. I think season 6 adressed many of the issues that were plaguing seasons 4 and 5. Maybe I set the bar too low, and maybe it's just me, but I don't expect a zombie show to be 100% realistic. Mostly, I want it to be entertaining. And a little shocked. I didn't see Dorie and Virginia's death coming at all and I thought they were both well executed. While the new villains lack nuances, I like the idea of exploring what a cult would look like 5-10 years into a zombie apocalypse. Some characters like June, West or Dakota are finally being given storylines for me to care about. It's far from perfect, but it's a massive improvement.
I pretty much agreed with your harsh reviews back in season 4 and 5. It was well deserved for a show awefully bad. But they were still balanced reviews. Now this is not a review. This is a rant. You were not really interested into making a fair review here.
My point is : You can't complain about a show not being nuanced and balanced enough, when your own writing is guilty of the same sins. I come here expecting to read a professional review. Now, if it's a rant and you assume it, good for you. But at least don't pretend it's a review.
Pat, my friend. S5 featured an episode where the characters literally watched paint dry on trees.
ANYTHING would be better than that, which is why S6 is automatically better. But a turd is still a turd, even if it isn't as sloppy and slimy as your earlier turd
Basically, S4 and 5 were insulting garbage. S6 is a massive improvement, but still bland and repetitive. If you think this is better than S3, or even S2, you're a certified mental patient!
If they manage to screw up the remainder of the season when they have JOHN FRICKIN' GLOVER in their cast then there's honestly no hope for this show anymore. Let's see.
For example, you think the worst thing Jinny did was cover for her sister. She finds settlements, forces them to bow under he rule, and kills the people who aren't worthwhile.
I agree with your points about the villains because let's be honest, when was the last time a villain on this show did anything actually villainous like killing a major character? Nick was killed by Charlie and a few episodes later all is forgiven, Madison stupidly sacrificed herself even though she could have just ran to the car and drove away because cars are faster than walkers, and John was killed by Dakota and the show seems to have already pinned it on Virginia and is now pretending that Dakota did nothing wrong 🙄 Say what you like about Negan and Alpha but at least they did legitimate evil things
Very well said. I hate how these girls are redeemed so easily for no good reason. At least they made it a bit of work for Charlie. Dakota though? Give me a break.

Haha no kidding. I'm so tired of this show. I can barely stand reviewing it.

It has a lot of issues, but you also don't pay any attention.
And you know I didn't pay attention....how exactly?
For example, you think the worst thing Jinny did was cover for her sister. She finds settlements, forces them to bow under he rule, and kills the people who aren't worthwhile.
Please don’t stop reviewing this terrible show it’s what makes me laugh before I go to bed!
Haha glad to hear it. And I'm here till the bitter end...
