My only complaint regarding casting is the hypocrisy of how casting is handled. When you tell a story from non-western cultures, representation and authenticity is important. When you tell a story from western cultures wanting representation and authenticity is somehow racist.
I think a bigger problem is the Academy requiring films nominated for best picture to check representation boxes (aka the RAISE form).
And here's the final truth. It's Nolan's movie, and his casting, and the only thing keeping this movie from being great is that there are parts that drag.
Eh, the Oscars don't require casting to be diverse. This is a myth. Having diverse crew also counts. And the Mediterranean is not as white as the British isles or Norway. There are many darker skinned Greeks and certainly were then as well. So I take little stock in all that. Pacing is subjective and I can respect that some people found it slow, but I actually didn't mind in this case.
I didn't say they required casting to be diverse, just that they require films to check 2 of 4 boxes to qualify. Anyways, agree to disagree. Always respect your opinions on films and games.
