I just watched this show because of your recommendation. I liked it. I didn't read your review until after seeing it. I normally would not watch a musical of any kind. But I found it refreshing and so on point. Good tunes and good voice...plus it helps to look like I always pictured a handsome Christ.

I hope only the best for this guy!

I only recently engaged with Bo Burnham's comedy. For some reason I had a silly "contempt prior to investigation" attitude, assuming I'd find him obnoxious. Then I saw a YouTube clip of "You Think You Know Me" and was blown away by the creative execution and surprisingly powerful emotional core.

I finally watched Inside a few weeks ago. During that first run, I didn't "enjoy" much of it, a few moments of pitch-perfect satire aside (Brand Consultant, Edgy Comedy Podcast). Yet it burrowed into my brain and I've returned to it again and again. It's kind of layered itself in my mind with increasing levels of appreciation and amusement. Maybe it's my own serious mental health issues, but that first watch made me deeply sad--for Bo, for myself, for my son and his generation. I really can't view it as a comedy special. It's more performance art drama with some funny elements.

The bit before All Eyes on me when he admits he's not well and breaks down is unbelievably, viscerally moving and relatable. And I'm strangely moved by the Chicken song from the outtakes for reasons I can't quite comprehend.

Thanks for your thoughts on this genuinely original work of art.
