I have not been writing much this past week-and-a-half, and have not posted many new videos for one very good reason: I am traveling with my family in Montana, the land of my birth.
The above photo is sunset looking out from our family property which is hemmed in by a river to the west and a creek to the south. The cabin sits at the end of a dirt road in the forest with mountains on either side and an endless procession of lakes and rivers. It’s beautiful and rugged and isolated and the perfect place to escape from society and the internet and social media and politics and all the bullshit.
This is the cabin, built decades ago by my grandpa. It’s as rustic as it looks, though there’s running water (from the creek) and electricity. No internet, no phone, no heat—no coming here in winter, that’s for sure.
It’s the kind of place I’d like to come someday to write a book. Lock myself away for a few months and just write free from all the distractions.
Lots of hikes and huckleberries to pick, cold lakes to swim in or boat around. Staggering mountain views, though this next picture is from a different trip since these mountains are currently all blanketed in smoke from distant fires.
In any case, this is why I’ve been posting so little. Travel, family time, nature. Turn on, tune in, drop out.
Thank you all for reading and subscribing. I appreciate it.
It looks wonderful! I agree it would be a good place to write your book. Thanks for sharing your piece of heaven!
That's awesome, very beautiul and peaceful. Just wondering how your kids feel about the no internet/back to nature thing. We lost wi-fi at my house for two and a half minutes today and I thought my kid was gonna burn the place down.
