"He puts the motion in motion pictures." Amen. I remember that first chase scene in Fury Road like I remember where I was at certain culturally significant moments in history. I remember the feeling of sinking into the leather lazy-boy style recliners in my newly-refurbished local theater and having the same sense of enjoyment washing over me that I had felt watching the first three George Miller films thirty years earlier. It was all the same wondrous George Miller smooth-yet-frenetic "notes," but amplified and refined, presumably by the better budget and an older, wiser storyteller.

For some reason, I wasn't that excited to see Furiosa, but I ponied up for an IMAX ticket, and I'm so glad I did, despite the running commentary from the three "bros" behind me. Furiosa deserved better. It really is a masterpiece. If it's the last film in the franchise, I really don't know of any other franchises that were consistently as good - movie-to-movie - as Mad Max through Furiosa.
